Tbh although we must be vigilant, not all dressage is cruel and not all horses are abused. Apparently in lower levels, hyperflexion is more punished. If you still want to enjoy dressage I would recommend avoiding higher level competitions, because that's where it's most overlooked.

Hyperflexion taints the sport and takes away the ability to enjoy it. I know Rollkur is already banned, but hyperflexion is still visible in higher levels. If a horse goes behind the vertical for an extended amount of time, they should be penalized in points.

A horse can be excluded from dressage for nicking himself in the warm up, but judges can sit there and watch horses clearly stressed, in hypeflex uncomfortable position. A vet needs to be one of the judges and mark for relaxed, tension free movement and be able to eliminate riders in the warm up and mid-test! They are allowing torture and not in the spirit of what dressage should be about.

Rollkur is not only blatant animal cruelty but the complete antithesis of the sport of dressage. The FEI should be ashamed for not only allowing but implicitly condoning such abominable treatment of these animals through the scores they award. The heart of true dressage is harmony and connection between the horse and rider. Physically forcing the horse's body into any position, let alone such a clearly painful and harmful one, is in direct opposition to the fundamental principles of our sport. Ban this despicable practice immediately before it tarnishes this sport beyond recovery.

If it is a momentary school moment to regain control, that is one thing, but it should not be in the competition arena, and if it is... even as a momentary action it must be DQ'd. The horse is obviously not ready to show.

I have never enjoyed a sport that puts rider before horse. these wonderful animals are put under unnecessary pressure for a piece of ribbon around the neck of the rider. sad, very sad.
