Many animals are affected by antifreeze poisoning each year weather deliberate or accidental. In some cases also human consuption can be fatal.
Ethylene glycol (chemical found in antifreeze, radiator coolant) is sweet to taste and attractive to animals. When consumed only a very small amount can be life threatening so it is thereformy intention tohave a bittering agent added to these products.
We lost our cat as a result of antifreeze poisoning and it was heartbreaking to see him suffer slowly ashis kidneys began to fail. Our cat (JoJo) was only 8 mnths old and it was such a shame to loose him at such an early age and to hear his life had ended as a result of poisoning was devistating.
In our town of Hungerford (Berkshire) this has become an on going problem and on doing some research on-lineI was shocked to realise that this was happening in many other towns nationwide and to even read about many different court cases where someone had been charged with giving antifreeze to another human and the results of this was anything from blindness to even death.
I hope my campaign can helpprevent this from continuing and to highlight the dangers of chemicals like antifreeze.

Seeing this grow is exhausting yet I refuse to let JoJo be forgotten. It feels like we are finally chipping away at a wall that looked impossible to move.

People deliberately use this to poison cats It must be prevented!!!! and stopped!!!!!
Just ban the sweet stuff. Its common sense.
My neighbors cat died just last week from this stuff. Truly awful way to go. Why isnt there a bittering agent in it already???
Long overdue. Dangerous chemicals should not taste like candy for animals and kids.
STOP THE POISONING. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a pet to this cruel mess.
Please change the ingredients of anti-freeze so animals are not drawn to it.

As animals are poisoned by only a very small amount of antifreeze, perhaps in addition to a bitter tasting agent, a very unpleasant smell would be a more effective deterrent by stopping an animal trying the antifreeze in the first place?
