This is amazing, I myself, a man, am very disappointed in the way this community (mostly dress codes) sexualizes women.

Im a 9th grader at Spring Valley High School, and I get dress coded because of the clothing i wear because of my body shape, yet another student can have on the exact same outfit, and be let by

The current dress code is gender-biased. The burden should not be on young women; everyone should treat each other with respect. Additionally, some students do not identify with one gender. The lines are blurry, so how can a dress code be fairly enforced? I cannot support the message being sent to my daughter that her body is shameful and should covered. The burden should be on everyone to exercise respect and control themselves. The code discriminates against those who identify as female and should be revised.

I feel the same way. Being dress coded is embarrassing. I think think its crap how girls get dress coded so we won't distract boys. When girls get dress coded they have to go home, call their parents, or go to the nurse to get something from the donation basket which takes away some of our class time. So distracting boys is more important than our education?! Respect to whoever wrote this. Once again I agree completely.

I have heard that if we petition against this they will make every school that signed it have uniforms...but they can't do that if every school signs it they dont have the money.

Today I walked in the iss class to get a tardy slip so i could go to class, after the lady saw what i was wearing she told me i must change my clothes because i was wearing leggings and a sweat jacket that was not long enough to cover my pants the worse this was i had pockets on my leggings and they weren't suppose to give me 6 hours but they still did. Even tho girls smaller then me can wear that exact outfit. And don't get me started on the cheerleaders. I fully agree and this whole dress code thing needs to be corrected. Your Welcome. (Drops the mic). Peace.

This is awesome. You have quotes from reliable people and sources. You have facts. And you even have a line from a professional source (TIME MAGAZINE!!!) I completely agree with everything on this petition. Dress code shouldn't be fingertip length because some girls that I know have monkey arms. Some girls are more developed some have curves and some have thighs. Some are stick dolls. But when it comes to dress code, this shouldn't matter. It should be equal for everyone meaning that fingertip length rule is ridiculous because some peoples arms are longer and some are shorter. Also leggings can be worn with a fingertip length shirt. But how many stores do you see selling fingertip length shirts? None or 1 yeah that's what I thought. Fingertip length shirts are what we call dresses. I shouldn't have to wear a dress just so I can wear comfortable pants. Crop tops no they aren't really okay in any way but for at least my school your shirt and pants have to touch when your arms are raised over your head. This is crazy because come on all shirts lift higher than that. Also why can girls wear shorts that are semi short but also appropriate. What are we supposed to wear on field day? Basketball shorts?! No I say that nike running shorts are an appropriate length if they are appropriate at churches then why not at school? No guy I know has been distracted by girls who are dress coded and I also see that the dress code isn't fair because it's not enforced on everyone, If you're gonna have a dress code, it has to be enforced on everyone equally period.
