Naming Grady Middle School after Ann Sledge

Ann was the type of person we all strive to be.

Ann has given so much to so many. An extraordinary person and educator, thus please consider Ann Sledge as you rename Grady Middle School.

Ann was an outstanding friend and educator. Her life ended too soon but please help her memory remain by renaming Grady Middle School after her. Thank you.

Ann did so much for education I think this would be a wonderful way to honor her hard work.

I believe that Ann Sledge was one of the most dedicated educators I have ever known. She deserves to have a school named in her honor.

I have known Ann for over 20 years. She was passionate about ensuring quality education for the children of HISD. Ann dedicated her life to education. She served as a teacher, principal and later as a mentor to teachers and principals. Ann served as a role model in the way she lived her life with integrity, strength, and compassion for others. I can think of no one that deserves this honor more.

Ann Sledge was a woman of much integrity and a deep desire to empower others to achieve all that they could be AND to give students and teachers the tools to do so.

Ann Sledge was responsible for hiring my daughter for her first teaching job at Briargrove Elem.. Ann was an exceptional mentor and set an extremely high standard for those who worked under her exceptional leadership. I was a student at Grady in the 1950's and I would be very proud to see the school renamed for Dr. Sledge.

Ann Sledge impacted the lives of literally countless children, parents, teachers, administrators and staff. Her impact reached far beyond her professional work. She served her church in many capacities, was active in supporting Neighbors in Action at Port Houston, and went on an international mission trip. I was a personal friend of Ann Sledge for twenty-seven years. She demonstrated integrity, excellence, courage, and respect (to name only a few). What better example is there? Please honor Dr. Sledge by renaming Grady Middle School the Ann Sledge Middle School. Respectfully, Jill Scheel

I believe that naming this school after Ann Sledge would be a great tribute and offer a great legacy to the school of tremendous character and a love for learning.

I knew Ann Sledge as a principal, a mother of one of my closest friends growing up, and as a close family friend. Her kindness, grace, and warmth shined in all of her roles, throughout all of the time I knew her. She was also incredibly good and talented at her job. Her contributions to HISD and her qualities as a human being make her unquestionably worthy of the honor of having Grady Middle School renamed after her.

I grew up with Ann in our small farming community in IL. Ann comes from a strong family background of hard work and education rated most high with her and her siblings. While I am unfamiliar with the Middle School being renamed it would certainly be an honor for Ann's family, friends and community to have the school named for her.

Ann Sledge is an inspiration to so many, she worked tirelessly to educate and for her legacy to continue on as a namesake for a school is nothing less than perfect. My mother taught under her at Ed White Elementary, and was so affected by her strength as a leader, and by her undying love for the art of education. Please research Ann Sledge, her life works say it all. There could not be a better role model!

I agree that Grady Middle school should be renamed "Ann Sledge". She had an important impact on HISD.

I couldn't think of a more fitting tribute to someone who spent most of her life taking care of our children and ensuring that they received the best education possible! Thank you Ann. You will be missed. May your memory be a blessing to your family, friends and all who had the great pleasure of knowing you.
