Philadelphia is a great city!!! We can do better. This has to be a priority.So many innocent suffering animals, so many dedicated workers, all deserve help, and I know that the funds are there.Somebody in city government has to pay attention, has to care, and make it happen.

You are there for the animals not for a fancy title to do nothing. A behaviorist is a must, and should be paid more than a paper pusher.

We agree - and that is where the upper management and the Board fail. They are the decision makers. They are the ones allowing these dogs to be sent to rescues. Any legitimate rescue won't take these dogs but there are many not so legitimate ones that do and it's reckless and dangerous. But it ALL starts at the top.

Time for a honesty: this is not a dog problem, it's a pit bull problem. If these animals are too dangerous to be dealt with in the shelters, then they should NEVER be adopted out. The rescue movement needs to deal with this issue NOW, before there are massive class-action lawsuits that kneecap the whole industry and harm safe pets that people want.

Create a safe environment for these volunteers and workers. Stop sugarcoating the pitbull problem, for starters. Second of all, start humanely euthanizing dogs of all breed or type so that you can VERY reasonable ascertain that they won't be an issue and bring liability and a bad reputation your way. Do better.
