To Mayor Setti Warren, the Newton School Committee and the Board of Aldermen:

The Angier School building is over 90 years old and in desperate need of renovation or replacement. The state of the current building is affecting how our children learn -- the smallest physical classroom size in the district, classrooms too hot or too cold, SPED and other services without dedicated space, and our children eating their lunch in a basement hallway.

While we recognize financial times are very tight, we ask you to please:

Approve funding for the School Committee’s Feasibility Study in the FY2011 budget.  This includes Angier, Cabot, Zervas and Carr schools.

We look forward to working together with you as we bring our 90-year-old building into the 21st century.

Very truly yours,

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum this has gained lately. This movement is entirely fueled by your dedication to our children and I am just so thankful to be part of this group effort.

The lack of space for special ed is the biggest issue. Those kids need privacy and a proper place to work with their teachers.

My kids go here and it is just embarrassing. They eat lunch in a stuffy hallway its not right.

The classrooms are freezing in the winter and sweltering in the spring. How are they supposed to learn like that?

Stop putting this off just because of the budget. It will only cost more to fix later when the roof falls in.

DO IT. These kids deserve a real school building not this dump.

90 years old is way to long for a school to go without a major update. Fix it now.
