To Mayor Setti Warren, the Newton School Committee and the Board of Aldermen:
The Angier School building is over 90 years old and in desperate need of renovation or replacement. The state of the current building is affecting how our children learn -- the smallest physical classroom size in the district, classrooms too hot or too cold, SPED and other services without dedicated space, and our children eating their lunch in a basement hallway.
While we recognize financial times are very tight, we ask you to please:
Approve funding for the School Committee’s Feasibility Study in the FY2011 budget. This includes Angier, Cabot, Zervas and Carr schools.
We look forward to working together with you as we bring our 90-year-old building into the 21st century.
Very truly yours,
The lack of space for special ed is the biggest issue. Those kids need privacy and a proper place to work with their teachers.
