Simply going by the comic books Angel/Archangel (Warren Worthington III) has to live or it completely goes against the major plot. Secondly, Ben Hardy played the character perfectly.

I doubt he's dead. They are keeping his fate ambiguous on the chance they find a use for him down the road. I highly doubt he will ever join the X-men but I could see him on X-Force. Just prepare yourself as I could also see him dying for real in a future movie as well.
