Without a doubt one the best horseman of his generation , Andy did it all and absolutely deserves entrance to the Hall of Fame. Long long overdue.

I was a hot walker and groom in Fort Erie and worked for him in the summers from when I was 11 to 16; I also went up to Woodbine for two summers and worked occasionally on his farm baling hay. I was too young to really know him although I talked to him at least 10 times a day; I had a tack room that I used to sleep in at Fort Erie that was attached to the back of his office that faced the home stretch; I could hear every word that Andy and Jimmy Kelly discussed.

My father, Andy Smithers, lived for horse racing. He was an expert horseman and deserves to be honoured for his contribution to horse racing in North Amercia. He was the best in his time.

I concur with this petition. I also think my father is a just nominee to be inducted as well .my father had run one of the best operations in the 80s that included a 10 consecutive win streak in Fort Eire .as well as many meet win A and B meets . But Canadian tracks . Mr Smithers as well as my father trained for very prominent horse owners of their time.Mr Frankie Merrill was the man my father strived to be like .as well as be a friend . I wish for mr Smithers as well as my dad to get the respect they deserve.....

He was truly a marvel that I was honored to share a shedrow with able to observe the master in action! -and of course the stories, the twinkle in his eye as he shared golden moments and gems to treasure. He called a spade a spade with no pretensions and most deservedly should belongs in the Hall of Fame! Good on you Lori a chip off the old block. Your dad was and would be proud!
