One year ago, my wife's mother lost her battle with cancer. My wife's 3 sisters were left without anyone to take care of them exept for my wife and her brother. Mariana received full custody of her sisters from the Bolivian courts. We have been trying to bring them here to the United States to live with us ever since then. The most correct method, by U.S. immigration law would be through an international adoption. Unfortunately, Bolivia does not allow international adoptions. Furthermore, Bolivia does not recognize the need for an adoption, as my wife has full and complete custody. We were told that since we couldn't adopt them, we would have to have custody of them for 2 years in order to bring them here. That would mean that one or both of us would have to live in Bolivia for two years with the girls before they could come to the U.S. Obviously this would put an awful strain on our finances and relationship. After exploring all possibilities we were told by various officials that our only hope was a Humanitarian Parole. We applied for a Humanitarian parole with the Department of Homeland Security in November 2009, paying $305 to process the form for each girl. We waited until Monday June 21, 2010 for an answer. Our petitions were denied. We are now trying desperately to find out what we have to do. My wife's brother has done a valiant job taking care of the girls up until now, but he is 19 and wants to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is not in a position to provide for the girls long term. All we want is for the girls to receive permission to enter the U.S. so that they can live with us and we can provide for them a stable home environment, a good education, and the best future possible for them. Please lend us your support, and if you know of anything that we can do, your help would be greatly appreciated. Help us send a message to the United States government that we want these girls to have the opportunity to come to the U.S. and live the American Dream. Thank you. ~Michael & Mariana Bryson
