Some of my favorite memories of WBU were being in the band and the adventures went went on.

It breaks my heart to hear this happening. Our youth need the privilege of a Fine Arts program available to them. Our nation is in dire need of abstract thinkers and inclusive members. Please, reconsider.

As a senior in Arizona, I never planned on pursuing higher education. God used the music program in a town I had never even heard of to lead me to enrolling as a student at Wayland Baptist University. I grew as an artist, performer, leader, and most importantly an individual through the fine arts department, and I don't just mean music.

Wayland, how dare you say you care about students if this is how you treat them. Get YOUR act together and for once at least do something that's best for the students. Their education lies in your hands, don't drop them. It's sad that so many former students have stories of what you've swept under the rug, eventually all that dirt will come out. Be responsible for once and take care of it.

As a participant of both the Wayland Band and Theater departments, I am devastated twofold. These programs were well-known across the country and even around the world and have stood for many decades. The lives that are and have been changed by these programs echo across the nation and around the world. Please reconsider the ramifications of closing these programs and allowing others to continue.

Fine arts is an invaluable part of Wayland. I wouldn’t have even attended Wayland if it hadn’t have been for the fine arts program and specifically for Dr. Stutes and Dr. Fountain.

These programs are what infuse the future leaders with the spirit of J.H. Wayland and all he stood for. Without the arts any university is a soulless diploma factory.

Abhorrent behavior, especially in the middle of the academic school year. My heart goes out to all those that are affected.

Mediocre football programs should never take precedence over nationally renowned educational programs. Ever. Make wiser choices, or consider better leadership.
