Dear Senator Buono:

We are writing in support of your choice of Jason O’Donnell as state party chairman and Lizette Delgado as State Party Vice-Chair.  We have read with great fascination over the past weeks and months as you have been challenged by fellow Democrats at every turn on almost every decision concerning your campaign for Governor, but it is our opinion that once you accepted the challenge to stand up against Chris Christie to run for governor you earned the support of Democrats across New Jersey.

We are encouraging people to sign this petition today in support of your choice of Jason O'Donnell as State Chair and Lizette Delgado as Vice-Chair of the State Democratic Party so that we can all begin to move forward with the hard work of getting Democrats across this state elected to office.

We respect the fact that, although you proudly serve your district in the New Jersey State Senate, you deemed this fight against Conservative Republican values to be so important that you respectfully gave that seat up at the end of your term.  In running for governor you clearly determined that there would be no obstacle large enough to stand in your way in the fight to try and wrest back the heart of our Democratic Party, and we stand firmly behind you in that fight. Since the start of time, the Democratic Nominee has always been allowed to pick their state chairperson. Now with the historical nomination of our first woman, certain 'leaders' in the party are trying to stop this from happening.

The repeated broadsides at your campaign have hurt every single rank and file Democrat in this state and it is time for us to come together as a party and fight for the ideals that unify us all. We know Jason O’Donnell and Lizette Delgado to be tough, strong organizers willing to do the work necessary in all 21 counties in order to get Democrats elected up and down the ticket. We have seen their passionate defense of Democratic values and their continued defense of these values even in the face of conflict and adversity.

We know that, working with you, Jason and Lizette will fight to restore women’s health care funding, strengthen our gun safety laws and establish a livable minimum wage and it becomes even clearer every day why you selected them for the fight.

In signing this petition, we want to make it clear that we stand behind Jason as your choice for state Chair and Lizette as your choice for Vice-Chair.

From politicians to labor forces to volunteers to phone bankers to fundraisers to simple votes in November, we are the backbone of this party.  We are the “boots on the ground” everyone brags about when it is time to “GOTV”, we are the “voice of the voiceless" everyone attempts to lay claim to during election season and we feel strongly that it is time for the focus to change and the Party to unify to begin doing the hard work necessary to get Democrats elected.
