As a fellow PTS student, I greatly commend your willingness to take a stand and excercise your First Amendment right to freedom of speech and expression. I also commend you for your opposition to xenophobia, racism and Islamophobia, yet, as I have read and retread this petition, I cannot concur exactly, at risk of social ostracism, due to the vagueness of the petition's ideological proportions and because I do not believe the petition under question accurately reflects Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr.'s central thesis that students at Liberty University have the 2nd Amendment right to protect themselves against terroristic attacks. Admittedly, Falwell was inexcusably reckless and very crude in his approach, yet, has admitted he misspoke and meant to say that Liberty students should be able to defend themselves against a radicalized version of the religious entity under question. I myself, as a Libertarian, am seeking a third way that avoids the polarizing rhetoric of both sides of this cultural and sociological divide, and yet seeks to at once content for due process under the law and our first amendment rights to freedom of speech and religion while not negating out second amendment right to keep and bear arms in the process. Please do not take my comments as a lack of support and love for you fine bothers and sisters. Bravo for your courage to take a stand in the cultural wasteland.
