An Open Letter to Hillary from an Environmentalist against the Dakota Access Pipeline
Dear Hillary Clinton,
I am an Environmentalist. I believe that protecting the Earth for future generations is the most important of undertakings, but as many others with my similar ideology would agree, deciding to vote for you has been difficult. This isn't so much because I disagree in the things you do stand for, but rather because I so deeply believe in the things you refuse to stand up for. Yes, I know about your voting history as a senator, and I thank you for standing with clean energy, air, and water. The issue is, I have also been there during the last few years as you stood idly behind fracking and ignored the big issues. On top of this, your oligarchy, big business, and oil industry ties have left me skeptical of where your priorities lie.So, here's the deal. As of right now, it appears winning the vote is your main priority. If you stand with me now, I will stand with you. Walk away from me and I will walk away from you. I may not vote for someone else, but you won't have my vote if you choose to abandon a cause that is clearly just for selfish gains. Furthermore, I will be watching, and if you take back your promise come post-election, I will remember in 2020.
We deserve a government that honors their treaties. We deserve a country where clean water comes before the oil industry. We deserve a President that stands up for her people. Stand up for us Hillary. Show us whose side you're truely on.
