Their oath SHOULD be to the people of Wales, not some high-born woman who benefits constantly while our people starve and suffer

It should be the decision of each individual - we are a free country. It should not be forced on anyone.

There's no question this is necessary. No just for Welsh Nationalists, but Republicans too.

The point is well made that a different system already applies in the NI Legislative Assembly

They are the leaders of Wales. Their sole responsibility is to the Welsh people and our country. Not to a foreign country or Monarchy.

Os yw hyn yn digwydd eisoes yng Ngogledd Iwerddon, pam nad yw'n bosibl yng ngweddill y DG? Yn union fel y cyflwynwyd yr hawl i beidio â thyngu llwon crefyddol, dylid cyflwyno'r hawl i addo gwasanaethu pobl Cymru yn hytrach na choron Lloegr, a hynny ar fyrder. If this is already happening in Northern Ireland, why is it not possible throughout the whole UK? Just as the right to affirm rather than swear a religious oath was introduced, so our elected officials and public servants should have the right to swear or promise to serve the people of Wales rather than the English crown. This should be implemented as a matter of urgency

If we are serious about striving for independence, then we must break away from the old Empire Crown issue, Citizens of Cymru should pledge allegiance to the people of Cymru and should not split allegiances to a foreign authority.

A modern countries Senedd members should be swearing allegiance to the people not the queen of a foreign country!
