OPEC has 81% of world oil, therefore controlling almost all of the transportation and energy in the western world. If the United States wants to get out of the situation, we will need to cut down on the amount of cars or trucks on the road dependent on oil. As of 2013, 93% of American vehicles rely on oil. If America is looking to get out of this mess, the first step would be to take advantage of other kinds of energy, like nuclear energy or natural gas. The next steps would be to become strong in solar and wind energy. Some countries have a plan, like Saudi Arabia. They plan to invest 109 billion dollars into solar energy.
