This year, Amherst High School has executed many changes. One being the "no backpacks allowed in the cafeteria." This means that the students must visit their lockers before lunch to put away their backpacks and get their lunches. Another rule the school has recently administered would be the "no being late to lunch" rule. This rule was carried out in order to end people walking around the school disrupting classes and skipping lunches. The "backpack" rule is to take safety precautions and is understandable, as well as the "lunch" rule; but together, it is difficult for students to meet both requirements. We, the students of Amherst High School, believe that these requests are difficult to meet and end in too harshly of punishment. Being a few minutes after the bell to arrive at lunch does not hurt anybody and is, believed by us, a reasonable request to ask of you, the administrators. By signing this petition, we agree that this rule should be lifted.
