According to a recent report by The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, PA, Mayor Linda D. Thompson has changed the name of the Annual American MusicFest (held 4th of July weekend in Riverfront Park) to "Harrisburg Jazz and Multi-Cultural Festival, Hosted by Mayor Linda D. Thompson." As the creator of this petition, I feel that America is a melting pot of many cultures. Keeping the name American MusicFest leaves a broad enough option of musical tastes. The event is already mulit-cultural and jazzy. Her own spokesperson, Mr. Charles A. Shulz stated to The Patriot-News “Jazz is a very open description for an enormous amount of music,” and the many festival goers I have spoken with, and others who have responded to online forums, all seem to agree that the name should stay what it is. Mayor Linda D. Thompson has stated that the name change is a direct result of the people of Harrisburg's wishes. Let's show her she is wrong and keep American MusicFest...just that!
