We, the undersigned legal voters of the Town of Colchester, petition the Selectboard to add the following as a warned article for the Annual Town Meeting to be held in March, 2014. "To give an appropriation of $4,000 to The American Red Cross, Vermont & New Hampshire Upper Valley Region in support of their mission and the work they do in Colchester and the state of Vermont." The Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. Whether we are providing emergency food, shelter and clothing to one family who just lost their home in a fire or providing mass care to many people after a large scale disaster, the Red Cross is there to help. Funding will be used to provide Emergency Services free of charge to those we serve.
