Greetings, my name is John Faugh, and I am starting a petition not just for me but everyone that has a passion to be one of the fortunate people that enjoy what they do to earn a living and helping provide for their family. I have recently been let go from a large cellular provider doing customer service and found myself very unhappy. I am a father of 2 young girls one of which is only 1 week old. Additionally, I have moved into my (severely disabled) fathers home, to help him, and the whole family, have a great place to live. We started out simply having "barn sales" to generate income for the family by selling family items via our 1500 ft. square barn, something my father has done often since living here(13 yrs.).With some sweat and perseverance we were able to generate some funds which may allow us to start a legit small business doing something I enjoy. However, the Town of Henrietta has supposedly received "anonymous complaints" in regards to our weekend sales (which they admitted could have come from someone who felt we were "upstaging" their sale!). Therefore, the Town wants to shut us down! Note than in addition to the large barn we have 10 acres, and 4000+ sq. ft. of off street parking, well isolated from other properties, by trees, brush and fences. They say we can apply for a business license, but it will probably be denied, because of the "complaints". There are many others doing the same thing, in Henrietta, on an even more frequent basis, and also other people on our street have businesses operating from their home. Anyone is welcome at any time to see what it is we're doing. We have had a very positive response from everyone that has attended our sales. All we want is a fair opportunity, as would any other person finding something they enjoy, and making a few bucks for their effort! Isn't that the American Way?
