There are already multiple American flags on campus. The most prominent are the ones at the entrance gates off of 934 and 422. Another prominent one can be found at Arnold field. I frankly do not see the point of this petition and therefore will not be signing it.

Funny how there are literally more American flags on this campus than any other else. Yeah, we get it "The United States flag represents every American. It is a symbol of unity for the entire country," but did you ever for a second think that if this was our actual reality that there wouldn't be a need for other flags. The fact that you even called it a lesser flag shows just that, who would want to be unified with people who look down upon them.

Students...dear LVC students...we have MULTIPLE American flags flying on campus. We clearly value our own country, but we are also very aware that not everyone in this country is treated equally, as promised in the documents that define our nation. One of the pillars of the LVC community is that we value diversity and inclusion, and flying these flags shows that we are advocates and supporters of disenfranchised and marginalized groups. This petition is unnecessary and frankly, very disappointing.

One must ask if the staff and the administration did this purposely. If they deliberately chose not to fly the American flag, then it shows nothing less than a divisiveness agenda. An aversion against the most broadly unifying symbol of citizenship in freedom and diversity in in both thought and person.

I think the American flag is a sign of freedom. It shows our respect to those who have fought and continue to fight for our rights.
