1000% against alcohol, not just in this setting, in any setting, but I do disagree with changing the event location. I think it would be more feasible to just not have an open bar that the already-chosen restaurant.

I completely agree with what Anonymous said, that a zero tolerance policy best suits the teachings and morals of our faith. But yes, adapting this right away isn't realistic. I'm in support of this petition as it takes good measures in promoting less alcohol in more suitable environment. This may be a strong start in hopes of one day creating a alcohol free setting

If given the choice, I would refuse to allow my children to participate in such an event in such an environment (bar, club, ect). given the negative image presented with such activities of drinking and smoking. I welcome adopting the idea of changing the location to a reputable restaurant or other places such as ADS houses (depending on location).

If I could enforce my morals on others I would have called for a zero tolerance policy for alcohol. I know that is not realistic. I fully support this petition. Great Job! Allah Yazeekum Bil Khair. You are the youth that make us hold our heads up high as Muwahideen.

It's very unfortunate that we have to resort to petition to vote on such a basic idea. We have talked to the ADS about the single night out setting as being inappropriate so many times yet the same thing keeps happening every year. I hope this would be a wake up call.

I fully agree. Please SPREAD THE WORD. ADS events and conventions are supposed to re-enforce our values as Muwahedeen. Bars/Clubs and drinking (not to mention underage drinking) is completely against our teaching. We should all be concerned with our children’s’ well being, even when they are young adults. This is not for lack of trust; it is reinforcement for a culture of safety and arming them against feeling pressured “to fit in.” We all have been to numerous ADS conventions, and unfortunately, we all have heard about and witnessed the action of intoxicated adults or young adults. It is our religious teaching] not to drink. I do not understand the reason for promoting drinking, by having such a venue available to our youth. We, the adults, should be proud to reinforce the rules and tell our youth and young adults what is right and what is wrong. I would like to share this story. In a big Californian city, there was a Jewish convention, and it was in the paper and on the news that when the contract was signed for the convention, one of the rules, in addition to eliminating pork, ham, and likes from the menu, was to provide the convention attendees with NEW silverware. Their rationale: they did not want their convention members to use knifes or forks that were possibly used in the past for eating pork. Please be proud of our values, our faith, and who we are. And Please SPREAD THE WORD.
