This is a request of Amendment to Spotsylvania County zoning code 23-5.2.2 location regulations, in regards to non permanent personal basketball goals. Zone code states that basketball goals MUST be located 15 feet inside of property's front line. We, Residents of Grantwood Acres, request that the code exempt streets and subdivisions that don't have through ways or otherwise have cul-de-sac streets. We feel that the placement of basketball goals, as long as they are not on the street, pose no threat or restriction to normal and/or emergency flow of traffic. Portable goals should be weighted properly so as to not be knocked or blown over from adverse weather.
