Our Congressional Representatives enjoy a lifestyle many of us could only dream about. They decide their compensation package, retirement, health insurance, allowance for quarters (tax free) and treat themselves as Federal Employees. These men and women who are in Congress, do not represent the United States of America, they represent their respective districts and or state to the Congress. It stands to reason, that their respective state legislatures should be establishing their pay, benefits and retirement as they do for any other state employee. The purpose of this amendment will allow the people the right to reign in these self-serving elected officials, and make them more accountable to their constituents. No elected official should ever be allowed to dictate their own compensation and benefit packages without input from their constituents.
