I think December should be the cut off day because that is the end of the year!

I was told its by September 1st. It shouldn't be based off of a birth date. If the child is ready, and 5 sometime in the school year they should be able to go to Kindergarten.

My best friend and I were separated school years even though our birthdays are only a month apart. If I would have been on the other side of the deadline I would have driven my mom crazy

My daughter will miss the deadline by 2 weeks if this law is not changed. She is already very bright and smart, she would be so sad to miss out on this experience because of some stupid birthday rule!

I think this law is to be changed 3 of my sibiling had to stay back due to this law,and now my nephew is habinh to repeat pre kindergarten because of this law!

Please pass this law . My child was affected by this and re did pre school twice when we moved to utah ! He should be in 10th grade about to finish high school.

I think the cut off date should just be to the end of the calender year, what's so special about September? I don't think that stating "they'll be bored at home" is a valid reason though. Kids at this age are excited to start school, excited to start learning in a classroom setting! Why hold them back and keep them from it? This law is dumb and really does need to be changed. It's not fair that your only options are waiting a year or paying outrageous private school costs just so your child can start the education they're so eager for. You've got my vote!

Please allow my child to join school now. She is ready to learn at the kindergarten level and doesn't need to repeat preschool again.

My daughter is so advanced that at preschool they constantly comment that she is ready for school. She misses the cutoff by 12 days and it isn't fair that she can't be tested in.

I had the same problem with enrolling my daughter for preschool. She wants to go to school like her brothers and actually cries because she can't go because the dead line was September and her birthday is December. But hopefully she can go to headstart but the fact is that they have preschool at my kids elementary and I really would like them to be together and not scattered because of some stupid cut off date. It sucks and just makes it harder for parents with more than one child in school. You totally have my vote!

Let these little ones learn before they lose the desire and move on to something else. Kids now days are sharp and smart, being in the digital age. Let them run with it and learn to fly.
