The 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution creates an issue which has led to devestating consequences for African Americans who are criminalized. We as the United States boast about being the land of the free however we have the largest incarceration rate in the world and our prison rate is increasing every year. Many of the people in jail are serving life without parole for nonviolent crimes and a large portion of people being incriminated are African Americans. The United States spends more money investing in prison systems then education its people. It is time that we recognize the injustices happening within our society and by signing this petition you can begin to make a difference by demanding to change the 13th amendment.

Seeing this momentum grow humbles me because I know the struggles families in my community face every single day. This movement is finally forcing people to look at the reality of a system that treats human lives as cheap labor. We are proving that this fight is far from over.

its 2016 and we still have legal slavery in the constitution. fix this mess already.
