Amend Stirling-Rawdon’s Bylaws to Allow for Backyard Hens

I strongly agree and believe that residents of stirling should be allowed to house chickens for the purpose of feeding their family quality eggs.

I think it’s a good thing with the high cost of living.

Hens are also a great way to deal with the rising tick problem in many areas.

There is no green bin collection program in Stirling, so my household food scraps are going into regular garbage collection. A handful of pet chickens would fix that, meaning a savings to the town. The waste from a handful of hens is compostable, and can be used in the garden. Wastes from cats and dogs can not. Chickens are great for insect control. A handful of hens are much quieter than the neighborhood dog (who barks, sometime too loudly). And they are more secure than the cats who roam my yard. Since a coop needs to be racoon proof, the hens wouldn't be loose in the streets. Chickens make great pets; when all of their needs are met they let their personality show. Like many progressive towns across Canada, Stirling should permit the keeping of chickens.

I have 4 chickens and get about 30 eggs a week,they are great little creatures .they do not make noise,the dog next store makes a lot of noise.you probably get a lot of fake info from the egg marketing board.they do not like competition.this will saver families a lot of money.

Great idea for this time in our history. Chickens are a Great way to ensure families have a protein readily available. They are clean. They are quiet.

Live in downtown Tweed. We cannot have chickens but Kingston and Toronto can????
