Amend Indian Beach mobile food vendor ordinance TO ALLOW FOOD TRUCKS !! Section 8-60: rule#2

This vendor brings interest and charm to this community. It should be managed so that there are no public menace concerns but these outlets bring interest and local charm. Repeal this ordanice.

Indian Beach/Salter Path, NC has inherently so much to offer its residence and guests. We have some of the most acclaimed restaurants on the island, the best beaches with free parking, great community churches, fresh local seafood shops, marinas, variety shops, hotel, ice cream shops, entertainment venues, cultural museum, unique art gallery, and more. All these various venues serve the communities and add culture to the area in each their own way. The elected leaders of this town seam to have lost touch with promoting growth and business in the guise of addressing "safety" concerns, or maybe, as the town manager was quoted in the paper, that dealing with "transient vendors" was a "pain". If there is a good reason to not have a food truck or "transient vendors" then maybe we could all support the town council’s decision to ban vendors. If there is in fact a good reason to ban vendors, then the message has failed to be communicated effectively. However, the appearance of the decision to ban vendors seams to have been made in a quiet manner by leadership in order to avoid hearing opinions to the contrary. In reality, the decision by the Indian Beach, NC town council, who often justifies their decisions based on the advisement of an attorney, which in this case is rumored to be under the guise of “safety” concerns, is often used to justify many decisions. In my opinion, the council’s decision has served in squelching growth, culture, community, expression, etc… Specifically, Captain’s Kitchen, had some of the most dedicated, friendly, and reliable crew serving the residents and visitors in our community. Finally, it is important to keep in mind that vendors provide service, revenue, jobs as well as bring variety to the areas they visit. Unless I am proven wrong with other facts; I say the decision by the town council to ban vendors was and is wrong.

Please amend the food truck ordinance to allow food trucks such as Captain's Kitchen to operate in Indian Beach.
