For some, Snapchat is simply a method of communication, others use it as a medium of self-expression. The restriction on one’s ability to use this Application limits or—in this case—deprives them of an inherent right: freedom of expression. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, freedom of expression is “the right of every individual to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” When a human loses their right to freedom of expression, a certain defining quality is lost. It is apparent that one of Amelia’s methods of expression happens to be Snapchat. Therefore it is necessary for her to continue using Snapchat so that her rights are not infringed upon.

This authoritarian regime infringes upon the freedom of speech and press by limiting media (Snapchat and Instagram) to express a person's opinions. This establishment should be reassessed due to it's unconstitutional nature. Regardless, if someone restricts on form of expression, people will find other means to achieve the same result of having Instagram and Snapchat available. Rather than banning, other measures should be negotiated witht the child to result in a compromise. I hope my fellow peers realize this as we march forwards to end this deplorable restriction.
