This is one of the most important services to all age groups. I have a son with a medical condition, which I have not had to use the ambulance service yet! One day I might need that service. Please please please please keep as many ambulances available, to help all people within and around the Solihull area. Thankyou

It is totally ridiculous not to have an ambulance station based in Solihull, lives are put at risk by not having cover any closer than Erdington. It is not working as recent news has shown.

For an area as large as Solihull we need ambulances stationed here and not being 5 miles away in Erdington!

If you choose to live in a rural location, part of the trade off is that essential services are likely to be further away.
Solihull has a population of over 100,000 - it needs a locally based ambulance and fire service.

Congratulations on your achievement with getting ambulances back into the Solihull area.
The unfortunate downside is that the current responder staff who have done many years and are extremely experienced and professional have now lost their positions.
At a meeting today with management and unions, staff have been informed that the cars that cover Shirley Olton Dorridge and Solihull, will be replaced with a double crewed ambulance instead.
The staff on these cars all signed up to do advance Community Paramedic training and have now been told there jobs have gone and they will have to go back onto an ambulance on a 24/7 rota, somewhere.
Responder staff will be receiving letters within the next few days
When a double crewed ambulance goes to a patient they take them to hospital. Once that ambulance is on the way and at hospital, there will be no cover in Solihull Olton Dorridge and Shirley, thus making the current situation actually worse because now, there will be no rapid response cars or ambulances!
When a car is in the area, this would be backed up by a double crew thus leaving the responder available to attend another case within the area.
So staff have now lost their positions and the cover will actually be decreased.

I can also support the comments from Yvonne Cahill. This area also has an enlargeing rural community and it has very heavy traffic problems. It would be so easy to have cover stationed at local hospitals. Come on management take your head out the clouds.

I live in Solihull and am shocked to hear that my nearest ambulance station is now in Erdington. Anyone who knows Birmingham and it's surrounding area will be aware of the traffic congestion that occurs on a daily basis. It is madness to think that an ambulance would have to cross city in inevitable traffic jams to reach a serious ill patient. especially as I have 2 local hospitals within easy reach. I do not feel confident, now, that if I were to need ambulance transportation to hospital in an emergency that an ambulance would reach me in adequate time. Please re-think this ludicrous decision.

It is not possible to provide emergency cover to any accidents or serious health issues in the Solihull area if ambulances are expected to travel through heavy traffic from Erdington and then be expected to transport the patients back again to Heartlands.

For heavens sake lets not cut back on lives, by cut backs on services. We all know someone who is sick elderly or vulnerable and having a hard time of it already in the name of the 'Recession'. The' Recession' what a dirty word that has become. I'm beginning to believe that it has become an excuse to trim back our services generally.
