In light of the recent news of the resignation of Mohammed Reza Heydari, an Iranian diplomat at the Iranian embassy in Norway, in response to the Islamic Republic’s violent crackdown of pro-democracy protestors, we are calling on all diplomats and representatives of the Islamic Republic around the world to follow suit and resign in protest of their government’s treatment of Iranian citizens, starting with the Iranian Ambassador to Australia, Mahmoud Movahhedi.
We, the undersigned, cannot understand how as a Muslim and human being, His Excellency, Mahmoud Movahhedi can justify representing a government that can only maintain its rule by beating, arresting, terrorizing, kidnapping, framing, torturing, raping and unlawfully killing its citizens. The Iranian people of Australia trust that upon receipt of this petition, Mahmoud Movahhedi will do the right thing and immediately resign as the Islamic Republic’s Ambassador to Australia and stop representing this illegitimate government
