On September 7th, 2017, Amazon announced plans to open a second company headquarters in North America, known as Amazon HQ2. October 19th, 2017, was the due date for submissions. Connecticut submitted four separate proposals: one on behalf of the State with either Stamford or Hartford as options, one from Danbury, one from Waterbury and a joint bid from Bridgeport and New Haven. Amazon will make a decision in early 2018.
This represents a tremendous opportunity for Connecticut. Other cities, states and provinces have found creative ways to get Amazon's attention. None of them have tried to show support directly from the public - which is the purpose of this petition. It represents a "voice of the customer." From now until the end of the year, while Amazon deliberates and makes a decision, citizens from the Nutmeg State can proudly show their support by getting involved and showing Amazon how passionate and serious we are about hosting their second headquarters!

2. Forward to others to help grow the list and hopefully get the attention of Amazon
3. Use the power of social media to spread the message... this was not a typical way for a company to announce the search for a second headquarters, so lets not be typical in showing our support.

The feedback from local offices has been slow and often frustrating but we are continuing to push these ideas forward. It is exhausting work to keep the momentum going when there is no response from the other side. We are staying in this fight because our cities deserve a real chance at this growth.

Stamford has a great head start on infrastructure, professional demographics and location
As a job developer in Fairfield County for disabled and disadvantaged, I would strongly support such a measure. Given the road systems, the caliber of talent, and plenty of potential of empty facilities (many former manufacturing facilities, the backbone of the nation), and proximity to major East Coast cities ,CT clearly has a lot to offer!
Connecticut is the perfect state for Amazon. We care about education, people's well-being, the environment, worker's rights and conditions, and a place where Amazon employees will fit in and easily get around.
Go Connecticut! Our ability to educate our workforce is second to none. This, along with having a governor that will push to eliminate the income tax and spur-on an economic resurgence, would make this a perfect home to Amazon HQ2.

Connecticut has beautiful cities and suburbs...and the coastline...and we are close to mountains and NYC AND AIRPORTS AND TRAINS! The schools are excellent and after GE left, many beautiful houses are waiting to be filled. We have fantastic colleges with students eager to do internships. We have people of all socioeconomic groups eager to see our state thrive with Amazon!
