I have been a part of the Amador Valley Basketball program for 3 years now and it’s outrageous at how poor our gym has become and how students have been leaving their trash on the court preventing us from having practice. We need a change!

Yes when the bond was available for safety and facilities , I was discussed that there was no money allotted for AV gym .

As I like to share, as an '82 graduate of Amador. When in school ..the football field was muddy grass, the track was gravel and the gym pretty much looks the same today. Immediate action needs to be done. When my 80 year old Dad can't safely get in the stands to watch his grandson play basketball something is terribly wrong.

There are multiple sports using our embarrassment of a gym. Money needs to be spend there too. Not just on the fields and stadium.

Amador Valley High school’s Large Gym’s condition is so scary and bad.

Both the large and small gyms are long overdue for renovations. In the large gym the state of the bleachers is precarious and the lack of reliable AC is especially problematic. The locker rooms have been on life support for years and far below minimum acceptable maintenance standards. It would be great to have a facility that lives up to the athletic performance levels of our students!

This facility we call “the gym” is utilized for so much more than Athletics; PE, rallies, major school events, music and talent performances, and non-PUSD community events, just to name a few. Please allocate the funds to this important facility.

As the parent of a Freshman basketball player, I was truly shocked to come into the gym to work the snack bar at my son's game only to find there is no snack bar, no signage, flooding in the storage room, broken doors, and generally inadequate facilities at Amador's gym. It is truly embarrassing.

This is long overdue. Over a year ago, my husband and colleague, Tony Battilega, eloquently presented to the board. As the department chair at AV, he outlined clearly the need for a new gym. He would be happy to share any and all parts of that speech with this committee.

The gym is a complete embarrassment compared to the fine gyms around the East Bay like Dublin HS Sports Complex gym...
