Sad that this is not a priority for PUSD when you consider that the gym is used for so many other activities besides sports (I.e. Student classes, Chinese School on weekends, etc.). The World War II look is no longer safe and is embarrassing when hosting any event for the community.

The dilapidated state of both our gym and our entire school is inexcusable!

It shows more like a museum piece than a functional gym. You can’t even get to the bathroom during a game without walking on the court and disrupting the game.

I have been to many gyms lately all over California and amador’s by far is the most run down. I’m assuming a health and safety hazard as well.

Having seen ALL the other gyms in EBAL, AVHS clearly has one of the worst gyms in the league.

This is long over do and our gymnasium is an embarrassment to all. It's a facility that is used for more than sporting events.
I hope the PUSD board recognizes that we have the worst facility of any school we compete against and it’s an embarrassment and irresponsible to have let it get to this point.

It is sad that a petition needs to be signed for the district to recognize where $$$ need to be spent.

Our kids deserve better! The gym is an embarrassment! You don’t even need to go inside it to see how bad it is! The outside with the paint peeling and letters missing from the front. Smh.... Sad that it has to come to this...

As a player, everyday I see this holes in the wall, the dangerous bleachers and the slippery court. This gym is not only used for athletics but, also physical education and needs to be updated soon.

I was also part of a committee dedicated to trying to get funding and support to upgrade the gym. We were told be district officials that funds could not be allocated to the gym, because it was an “athletic facility” and not a “classroom”. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is used as a classroom every day- for PE classes, for testing, for school rally’s and functions. Its an integral part of the school. And it’s not up to safety code. It’s just a matter of time before someone gets injured on the bleachers, or gets heat stroke during a pa led rally with no AC. I completely agree that the message to our school community and to the students and athletes that utilize the gym is “we don’t care”. The AVHS Boosters did an amazing job raising funds to redo the athletic field. If the district won’t allocate funds to upgrade the gym (and bring it up to safety codes), then how can the community raise funds to make this happen? So much of our community uses and benefits from that gym- AvHS students, local churches, CCOP, etc.
