The gym needs to be renovated; it is in a very bad shape. This school is Pleasanton's pride and center piece. Keep it up with the school's reputation.

This corrupt school district cares more about adding numbers to their own paychecks than the well-being of their children. Greedy administration staff such as the standing principal currently cannot see past her own political agenda and address issues that truly plague the student body, such as immense homework loads and the dumpster fire that is the Amador campus. Truly shameful.

At a minimum, brighten interior with paint, improve lighting and skylights. Resurface floor to fresh wood to brighten, then restripe. Install reliable lift mechanisms for baskets, new lockers and bathrooms and the custodial support to keep clean. Be nice to have a snack bar, a lobby for trophies, taking admission, crowd decompression. On the interior walls add digital Jumbotron style scoreboards with dynamic, revenue-generating ad signage and the ability to demo game tape (incl scouting & instructional). Enables teams of any gym sport to learn and apply on court immed during practice. AC. Replace interior doors or hardware that’s worn. It’s great there’s a water bottle filling station, now just need the rest of the gym brought up to standard.

I agree. Gym is in ridiculously terrible shape for any town, never mind a high quality school like Amador in the bay area. Lets have a little pride in our facilities and fix the place up. Don't understand why funds have not been appropriated in the past. The outside paint of the the gym is even pealing... unbelievable... ?

Our attendance is increasing over the next few years and the facilities are run down and ancient. We have to focus on improving the environment for our children as well as it being a part of our community image. Health and safety comes first and this is not up to the current standards.

The athletics program at AVHS including the issue of the gymnasium needs a real overhaul (with true oversight). I remember when the issue of the solar parking structure first hit my in-box and I just sat thinking" "why is this a priority over all the issues our high school faces". (SMH).

How do yo have a bond measure and not allocate any funds for the 90 year old+ high school that along with Foothill are the center pieces of the district and town? Now it is not only an embarrassment, it is dangerous.

I agree with another recent comment. Why are we spending money on solar parking structure that most people don’t want , when those funds are so badly needed elsewhere? The Gym is old and the locker rooms and bathrooms are disgusting. It gets so hot in there August and September. I feel so bad for those players who have to play in that heat, with no circulation except for an open door. It’s so hard on older parents and grandparents who want to watch the kids play.

The gym is in bad need of upgrades including AC. In this day and age of high tech, it’s ridiculous , and dangerous to have young athletes playing sports in a gym where late summer temps reach close to 100 degrees inside and out. The school needs an upgraded gym more than it needs solar parking structures. Priorities!

The gym is critical to supporting an active lifestyle for our child. It’s also the place we come to gather for other meaningful events. It should be the showcase of our school. It should not stink. It needs proper ventilation to create a safe environment. I haven’t seen improvements since I graduated Amador in 1983.

Agreed. The deplorable conditions are unsafe and unacceptable. Leaky roof, crumbling exterior walls, warped basketball court, no HVAC, unusable locker & restroom facilities etc... are a disgrace to community at large. Our students deserve more!

The next step is to attend the school board meeting on May 21 at 7:15. The address is 4665 Bernal Ave. The meeting is at the district board room. If possible, please speak at the board meeting. We each have three minutes to communicate our concerns. It would be great if you could bring your kids with you! We have to let the board and the superintendent know that we have had it! We want action, we need the issues of our gym addressed immediately. If you can’t make the board meeting, the next best action it to email each board member. Their emails are below.
