My sons went to Foothill but I support any school that need to have their gym upgraded due to wear and tear and safety issue.

The AVHS gym is in serious need of repair. Not only is it a safety issues for our students and athletes, it is a liability issue for the District.

The Amador gym is long past the safe, useable, functional, and modern facility that it once was. Rallies and or assemblies have to be held twice, because all students will not fit into the gym at one time. The physical limitations, poor appearance, and safety issues are obvious. At the time of Amador's last renovation, plans were created and approved to expand, modernize, and increase the functionality and uses of the facility. Those plans were drawn up a time when the community and the school district believed and supported the importance of a renovated gym. Wow, long over due.

I agree that our gym has aged so much that it needs a facelift. In addition to improving the image of the gym, I am concerned about the safety of using the facility for our students and staff and families. Thank you for your attention to this.

Can't agree more that our AVHS gym is a disaster. It feels like we are in the past and our student and community deserve better. Peeling walls, floors, literally dark and sub optimal lighting, the hot temperature makes it extremely difficult for the athletes. Hope the district take this serious and take the needed actions ASAP.

Having graduated from Amador nearly 30 years ago and played in and attended many basketball games in that same gymnasium, there has been absolutely nothing done to maintain the gym. The walls on the outside of the building are embarrassing to look at with the outer surface visibly peeling away. The inside is dark and dingy with home and visiting locker rooms that are in horrible shape by today’s standards.

I have been teaching and coaching here for 26 years. Most facilities in neighboring districts have been updated and improved while ours have decayed. Our school has grown by almost 1000 students and little investment by the district. This facility is also used by the community.
