Dear Neighbors,

A number of us met last night to discuss the upcoming Alvin ISD rezoning plans. The outcome will impact our children and our property values, and therefore we are asking for the support of everyone in our neighborhood. After much discussion, which included input from two of our neighbors on the rezoning committee, we settled on a key theme that we believe is in the best interest of our children and our neighborhood in general, which is:

We want our neighborhood to remain zoned to schools inPearland instead of schools in Manvel, now and in the future. Our neighborhood is in Pearland, our residents identify with Pearland, and we want our children to grow in that identity from elementary, through middle school, and ultimately to the new high school that will be in our back yard. In addition to our geographic location, we believe the current demographics and future growth projections support our request.

What can you do to help? Glad you asked! Here are the things we'd like to ask of you:

1. Sign the online petition, which can be found at this link: INSERT LINK HERE

2. If you forget to do #1, then some of your neighbors may be going door to door this weekend asking for signatures on a hard copy. Please sign.

3. Show up at the public hearing Monday night at Rodeo Palms Junior High at 7 pm. We plan to speak on our points above, and it would be great to have a strong showing of residents at the meeting. We'll also provide the petition to the committee, but only if we can get a significant number of signatures.
