The city council finally folded and agreed to keep the Almont Ball Fields in public hands. This victory belongs to every one of you who refused to let them sell out our children for developer kickbacks. Stay vigilant because we are watching to make sure they actually follow through on …

Please act to save the athletic fields that surround the old Almont elementary school on Church Street (the “Almont Ball Fields”). This land is currently used by hundreds of Almont children and their families on a yearly basis. It accommodates (i) four baseball fields used by Almont Youth Baseball Assoc. to allow our youth to experience the Great American Pastime of baseball, (ii) several youth football fields used by Almont Youth Sports to grant kids the experience and lessons learned from America’s Game, (iii) youth soccer fields used by our Almont teams to practice on, and (iv) other community groups for a myriad of purposes. There are key decisions being made at this very moment that will greatly affect the community’s ability to use of this land in the future and the types of experiences available to the children of Almont moving forward. If you support keeping the Almont Ball Fields (a) owned and operated by an Almont public entity and (b) available for community use, please sign this petition.

One hundred people have signed on to stop the city from selling out our kids. The bureaucrats think we will just roll over and let them pave over these fields but they are clearly mistaken.

Our church uses the softball fields to play softball games in the summer against other churches. Please keep these fields available.

Playing on these fields was a huge part of my life it was my families nightly routine and summer place to be. Many of my life long friendships were made at the these fields and it would be devestating to the community to lose these fields

It is so important to keep these fields. Our city should not be the only one in the area without fields for our youth.

Please save the fields. In a small community like Almont there is nowhere else for the kids to play. They would have to travel to neighboring towns to play youth sports which means some kids won't be playing sports anymore.

I am all for the school district selling the old elementary school building, but we need to keep the land to the north of the building where the baseball fields are for the community to use.

I would love for the township/village to purchase the ball fields so my children have a place to play baseball and football. Keeping them in sports increases the likelihood that they will stay away from drugs and crime
