Dear Valued Vendor,
My name is Julie Allen, and I am the owner of Mary Rose NW Boutique and founder of the Mary Rose Foundation. We are located in downtown Oregon City, OR, and also run a successful online boutique. Mary Rose is a body positive, size-inclusive place promoting self-love for all women. We firmly believe all women are beautiful and deserve to feel that way.
The Mary Rose Foundation is a non-profit I founded after a 15-year struggle with anorexia and bulimia. Our foundation works with local eating disorder treatment centers to financially assist patients with the cost of treatment. In addition to our large fundraising events, a portion of all boutique sales is donated to our non-profit. The foundation and helping all women feel beautiful and confident is what is at the heart of Mary Rose.
The purpose of this letter is to ask you to please extend the sizes you currently manufacture. I have a large customer base of women in extended sizes, and they have expressed enthusiastic interest in wanting your pieces. I have sadly had to turn away customers because what they are looking for is not in their size. I have been very pleased with your brand and would love to see extended sizes offered. With the mission behind Mary Rose, I feel it is imperative to offer sizes XS - 3X in a variety of styles. Our customers agree. We want to see a change in the world of fashion, a world where all sizes are accepted and given permission to feel beautiful. We want to see the same styles be available for people living in larger bodies as well as people living in smaller bodies. It is time we come together and help put an end to diet culture and the stigma around living in a larger body.

The fashion industry keeps ignoring our reality but this outpouring of support proves they cannot hide from us forever. We are building an undeniable force that is going to shove these brands into the real world whether they want to go or not. Keep the pressure on these manufacturers until they finally stop excluding women.

With the mission behind Mary Rose, I feel it is imperative to offer sizes XS - 3X in a variety of styles. Our customers agree. We want to see a change in the world of fashion, a world where all sizes are accepted and given permission to feel beautiful. We want to see the same styles be available for people living in larger bodies as well as people living in smaller bodies. It is time we come together and help put an end to diet culture and the stigma around living in a larger body. The fashion industry NEEDS TO CHANGE and it starts with us! Time to help make a difference and fight back against our diet culture <3
Not only to have all sizes in the same style but for the clothes for all sizes to be placed together. Someone can feel less than, when being segregated to another area to shop.
I am and RN and Intuitive Eating coach. I see so many women who struggle with body image. So much of it is perpetuated by diet culture and the idea that smaller is better. Only having smaller sizes contributes to shame and stigma. Having sizes for all women is the most empowering thing you can do. Thank you
Everyone deserves to have a chance to try on an outfit! No woman should feel less because of her body type. I used to be 100lbs and I was severely unhealthy, my eyes were sunken, my face was so thin, and Ithought I was "cute" because my belly was flat. Now I weigh 168lbs and I'm very healthy, my face looks healthy and people tell me how great I look. Despite the fact that I have some love handles and a pooch that I could tone up, I actually feel great. I have a hard time finding clothes to fit me now and that flatter my body. I want all designers to include ALL women!!
It has a major affect on mental and emotional wellbeing to feel like so many clothing brands either don't feel women larger than a Large deserve comfort or fashion, or somehow think we don't exist as a demograph with money? I've worked in retail and can comfirm many of our larger sizes just sell out faster. The average woman is not as petite as clothing makers seem to believe. :\ Expanding out to a larger audience can only earn you more business and revenue!
every BODY deserves to feel cute and on trend! No human should be excluded because of their size. the fact that it is 2020 and I have such a hard time finding plus size clothes is insane to me.

I’m generally in between a ‘normal’ clothing size and slightly smaller than a ‘plus’ size, so most of the time my size is hardly catered to. Sometimes I’ll try a large and decide I need an XL only to find the XL isnt even made, which is incredibly frustrating. I would also love for my mom (who is larger) to be able to shop in the same place as myself.
