We believe that GloFish is a fascinating species and should be allowed in Canada. A genetically modified organism (GMO) or genetically engineered organism (GEO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These techniques, generally known as recombinant DNA technology, use DNA molecules from different sources, which are combined into one molecule to create a new set of genes. This DNA is then transferred into an organism, giving it modified or novel genes. Transgenic organisms, a subset of GMOs, are organisms which have inserted DNA that originated in a different species.
These fish are not genetically modified, unlike the Painted Glass Fish, or other fish that are sold in stores, that are injected with dye while it is a living fish. The GloFish are pretty, and I want to own some.

I definitely want a fish tank full of these! My science teacher wants them as class pets because we're doing genetics and DNA in class, but unfortunately they aren't allowed in Canada
