Hi. I'm writing regarding the prejudice being shown toward Cairos ale house in west Chicago. Apparently, the city has taken it upon itself to stop operations at the ale house for a week, until a hearing regarding noise pollution.
This is a business that has stayed relevant for many years and survived covid only to be shut down by its own town. Not only has this decision caused the owners money, but you have also taken money from people who have paid for tickets, babysitters, etc, and all of the employees.
This is a time of unity and support in other towns, like wheaton where the city has SHUT DOWN AN ENTIRE MAIN STREET, to provide room for outdoor dining. Where there is live music played. Where there is respect and appreciation for small business owners.
Video is circulating now involving west Chicago police, and a laughable exchange where the crickets are louder than the ale house.
This is disgusting abuse of authority and even more disgusting in the face of them having survived a pandemic. The city ought to be ashamed of punishing Cairos and its patrons and employees.
Please reconsider punishing them further. Have your hearing, sure, but don't take money out of the pockets of those who are making an honest living and providing for the livelihood of your citizens and town.

Cairo's Ale House is a local small business that is absolutely a cornerstone to the West Chicago community. It draws in people from all over rural and suburban illinois, bringing culture that you can't find in the big city.
At Cairo's Ale House I have been treated with nothing but professionalism; be it as an event coordinator or as a patron.
It is owned and run by hard working citizens of West Chicago and is an economical asset.
Every day that this business is not operating, West Chicago suffers.
