Development for the BlackBerry Playbook is dead. There have been no updates, and we've been told there will be no more. Our request is simple, allow us to modify the Playbook system, so we can continue to use the fantastic hardware of the Playbook. We want the ability to unlock the bootloader so development for the Playbook can continue and maybe even grow!
The company remains silent on our request to open the source code for this hardware. I need you to send an email to their official support channels today demanding they release the bootloader keys. We stop wasting perfectly good devices when they stop ignoring us.

The response to this campaign proves that people still value this hardware. We have enough momentum now to start turning up the pressure on the company. Post the link to your tech forums and email the company support line to demand an unlock tool.

I paid a lot for the 64gb model to be able to get the most out of the device. What I got was Blackberry taking my money and adding huge promises, then abandoning me completely.

BB cannot have it both ways - abandoning this device by not giving it OS10 and not allowing Android to be installed. Look at HP - who allowed installation on their tablet after it failed. My friends with that tablet can do more with it by installing apps like Flipboard, Banking, NY Times and so many games - all of which we cannot even imagine with the playbook. This should not be the reward for loyalty due to which I purchased this device over its competitors!
