I am writing to respectfully request that the students of Patel High School be allowed to walk in their graduation ceremony. While we understand that mistakes were made, I truly believe the lesson has been learned. Missing out on prom and the many senior activities leading up to graduation has had a deep emotional impact, and it has served as a meaningful consequence and opportunity for growth. These students are not troublemakers — they are bright, talented young people who made a poor decision in a moment that does not define who they are or all they have accomplished. Graduation represents the culmination of years of hard work and dedication, and I sincerely hope they are not denied this final milestone. Thank you for your time, consideration, and for all you do to support our students.

Taking away walking at graduation isn’t just punishing the girls it’s taking it away from the entire family. Some families never get to experience these moments.

One incident of a lapse in judgement should not cost these young ladies this opportunity that they worked diligently for over the past 4 years of their academic careers.

As a mom I feel so let down by this school not only because of the inconsistency of how they deal with these type of situations. They keep a lot of things from the parent when communication should flow openly so we as parents are aware. They only disclose things after they know that their image is already in jeopardy. It seems that this school soley cares about their image and not the students growth and development. With that being said, young people make mistakes and I am sure that others at the this school have made similar ones to what these girls did. They have received punishment enough but taking their opportunity to walk at graduation is absurd! The school needs to let these girls walk at their graduation because they have all put 12 years of hard work into that moment for it to be taken away for one mistake that could have happened to anyone.

As a former High school principal, I agree with all the punishments with exception of walking across the stage for graduation. This principal is erasing all the accomplishments the young ladies achieved since kindergarten. That's what a high school graduation represents, the culmination of K-12 achievements. Not just High school.

The 5 girls have to participate and walk in their graduation. 1 incident that didn’t cause any form of harm to others shouldn’t be used as a reason to suspend them from graduation. I think it’s an unfair judgment against the 5 female students. After these long 4 years of high school as a teen dealing with so much challenges and obstacles it’s a lot to overcome, please consider and give them the opportunity to attend their graduation. It’s an accomplishment they earned and deserve.

These young ladies has also made an effort to contribute positively to the school community, whether by supporting peers, participating in cheer, afterschool programs, or maintaining respectful behavior. I truly believe they are ready to move forward and would be proud to see them graduate.
