The valedictorian at my high school gave a speech at the commencement ceremony. She did not have to audition as it was her duty and honor as the valedictorian. Toni should be able to "bid farewell" to the class of 2015.

Of course the valedictorian should speak at graduation!! Toni is a wonderful role model and has earned this honor. It is not right that the administrators took this away from her.

The concept of a competition to determine which member or members of ANY graduating class will speak at commencement is ridiculous. Toni is the Valedictorian of her class; she speaks!

The valedictorian has always given the farewell speech at every graduation I have attended for San Diego Unified High Schools and Scripps should be no different. This is yet another absurd issue at this school. Let Toni speak and give her the opportunity and respect she deserves!

As the valedictorian she should not have needed to even audition. She is a humble, hardworking young woman and I am impressed that her fellow students want to help make her voice heard. I hope the administration does the right thing.

I don't think we should restrict someone who is so devoted and dedicated to her studies, and she does track as well and gets good grades which is impressive to me.
