Another symptom of the effort to strip meritocracy from education. Next thing you know, Scirpps Ranch High won't keep score in soccer or basketball games. Idiotic and unAmerican.

If the valedictorian wants to speak, she should have the option. If she chooses not to speak, then auditions should be held.

The kid whose speech was selected worked maybe 4 hours for that spot. Toni worked 4 years for that spot. End of story.

SRHS never ceases to amaze me. Of course the valedictorian should speak at commencement. Toni is one of SRHS's bright stars and should be honored as such. At least at the end of the day, Toni will know how much the community loves and supports her!
