I'm offended that this was removed. There is nothing racist or political about this flag.

Shame on the Mayor that she did not stand by her fire department or educate herself on the meaning behind the flag.

The flag stands for the memory of the men and women who have lost their lives in the fire service and represents the current members. Let the flag fly!!! If it offends someone, tell them not to look at it!!! Hope the citizen never needs the fire department!!!!! God bless!!!!

Why is one person allowed to torment so many?

So sad that this offends ONE person and ALL the fallen fighters have to suffer. Haven't they suffered enough? I wonder if the offended even knew what the flag stood for before they complained about it. PLEASE get this flag back on Station 4!

We dont care which flags are flown in the city, but to force the firefighters to take this one down is disgraceful

The flag should be allowed to be posted. Otherwise please remove all of the rest of the flags in the city.

Not only should the Thin Red Line Flag be returned to Station 4 it should be proudly displayed at all six of Newton's Fire Stations, Fire Headquarters, Newton Cemetery and City Hall. Also the department and its members are due a public apology. John Colella Lieutenant Newton Ladder 2 (Retired)

As a brother firefighter it hurts to see a symbol like this taken down because of 1 person.
