There's very little research to show that aquatic herbicides are safe for all living things in waters where they are used. In addition to the numerous birds, animals, insects, and fish that live in Tawas Lake, it's also one of the few nesting areas in Michigan for the Black Tern. This bird's numbers have been falling dramatically in recent years. This bird is now on the Federal Endangered Species list. There are more effective methods of removing vegetation from the marsh that is called Tawas Lake than using environmentally unsafe chemicals.

Haven't we had enough of poisoning our environment? If people don't like so called "weeds" on Tawas Lake let them get off their butts and pull them out themselves. They might find these weeds to be a valuable part of the ecology for both wildlife and human beings.

No chemicals in Tawas lake/marsh one of the few places with wild rice in the lower Peninsula . Can't believe they are even considering doing this as Tawas lk. is spring fed which goes into Tawas river into Lk. Huron!

Our natural resources are northern Michigan's greatest asset, the allure of tawas is the natural and wild setting it exists in. Sportsmen are drawn to tawas lake for the fishing not swimming, do not try to turn one of our most beloved lakes into a synthetic swimming hole through the application of herbicides.

This is one of the few native populations of wild rice in the Lower peninsula of Michigan that is healthy, diverse, and intact. The animals and humans and the lake itself depends on a large wild rice population. These chemicals will kill wild rice, I have seen it on my lakes that have sprayed for invasives.

Please use another avenue to remove the lake rice on Tawas lake. The chemical run off from farms & fields already contributes to the poisoning of the waters.no need to add more.

We can no longer afford to use chemicals against nature. These chemicals leach into the environment and into the plants and animals we eat. Many of the so called diseases we suffer from are caused by the build up of chemicals in our bodies. We must stop this now.
