The homeschooled students of the
Marcus Whitman Central School District should be allowed to participate in extracurricular
activities, (ex. Field Band, Football, Soccer, etc.). The parents of these
students, pay taxes, which go to the school, and the school, at any time, can
pull the homeschooled students into public schooling if they don’t like what
they are getting taught. With the school having this much power over
homeschooled students, it is not right for them to be denied access to participate
in extracurricular activities.
I would like to add, that we as home schoolers are required to send in reports to the district, as well as, standardized test scores (at our own cost) to show that our children are meeting academic benchmarks.
