The homeschooled students of the Marcus Whitman Central School District should be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities, (ex. Field Band, Football, Soccer, etc.). The parents of these students, pay taxes, which go to the school, and the school, at any time, can pull the homeschooled students into public schooling if they don’t like what they are getting taught. With the school having this much power over homeschooled students, it is not right for them to be denied access to participate in extracurricular activities.

The district needs to modernize their policy already. Its 2016 lets get with the times.
My son played soccer for years and it was always so unfair he couldnt play for the school team even though we pay full property taxes just like everyone else.
BOUT TIME someone spoke up about this. its ridiculous that they pay for the facilities but cant even use them.
This is an excellent point, that you so much! I will be sure that this also gets brought up to the BOE!
These kids deserve a chance to be part of the team. It helps them socialize and learn real teamwork.

I would like to add, that we as home schoolers are required to send in reports to the district, as well as, standardized test scores (at our own cost) to show that our children are meeting academic benchmarks.
