I have been fortunate and grateful to be involved with the Erie Table Tennis Club for over six years. Sam runs an amazing club that’s kept me coming back even though I travel 110 miles from Cuba, NY. It’s that good and well run that it requires another look before dismissing it from your school. It’s value to the local community and beyond cannot be quantified. Surely, table space and safety concerns can be solved after 43 years this club has existed (1975-2018) and has benefited your community and beyond.

I have enjoyed many hours of competition and friendship at this club. It also gets everyone out for some much needed exercise. I would hate to see a club like this lose it's home.

I have been playing the ErieTTC since 1979and McDowell since 1992 I have talked to hundreds of players at tournaments from other states and Canada who are impressed with our facility .Too bad some officials are so short sighted

Please save this club. It is such a treasure. My father, a 70 year-old veteran and retired engineer often travels 2 hours to play. My husband currently plays and voluntarily assists with setup and tear down of the spring and fall tournaments. It is the primary community activity in which he regularly contributes and participates. It is the closest thing to a church or a bar or a gym that he has without being any of these. It is a place that one can be active, feel welcomed and accepted, and truly be present in the moment to play. Table tennis is a wonderful social, physical, and mental activity. It is a game that is played with others, but also against oneself. It is a game that can be very serious or very lighthearted depending on the skill and creativity of each player. When I was active in the club and a novice to table tennis, Sam and many others offered guidance, for which I will always be grateful. It is unusual to have an opportunity to play against the caliber players that this club draws. I routinely saw players from nearby cities and even from other countries. Eventually, I was able to pay attention to a little white ball for three hours, and while I never achieved greatly in the sport, I had a forehand and a backhand hit which allowed me to get a few past my dad. My time at the club gave me great personal satisfaction in that my skills improved each week, I made connections in my community, and bonded with my family. Thanks for your consideration. I do hope that an agreement can be reached and this amazing club can be saved. Sincerely, Caley Banko

This is healthy fun. There must be a way for Millcreek to continue to offer this sport to the community.

Why remove the table directly, why no consideration of people who use it?

Letting this club drift away would be a terrible loss to the community, and Erie. I have been a member of the club for many years. Within my time I have made so many new friends young and old, male and female, locals from the surrounding areas, as well as people from all walks of life and nations. This is not only a club but an anchor that brings and binds so many different people together. At the ETTC, everyone including new players can speak the international language of fun, smiles and laughter : )

This club has done nothing but help the community of Erie. To close it down is a sin and will be a detriment to everyone both directly and indirectly involved in this matter.

TO: Mr. Hall and ALL NINE (9) Members of the Millcreek School District School Board, We are very thankful that you have been letting us use the gym on TH & SAT nights…but before you arbitrarily decide to evict the Erie Table Tennis Club (ETTC) from further use of the gymnasium… please stop out to see “the Club” with your own eyes. On Thursday and Saturday nights, you will see firsthand that ETTC is a fully inclusive and equitable organization that recognizes and values the importance of diversity. The Club’s overall membership composition reflects a diverse representation of ages, races, cultures, ethnicities, religious creeds and both genders. Our membership consists of a mixture of blue collar and white collar workers. For example, some members are medical doctors, educators, college deans, computer software engineers, IT personnel, mechanical engineers, investment brokers/counselors, retirees, military veterans, college professors, high school students, college students, etc. You will also see that “the Club” functions as a successful model of Community Education. Allowing us to continue to use the gym shows that you value the importance of community based education. What better way to show that your district serves as BOTH a K-12 educational institution and a center of community life. Continued usage by ETTC also shows that you welcome and celebrate diversity, multiculturalism and that you support a culture of inclusion, equality and access, etc. Sincerely, Dr. Tom Staszewski
