currently the there is no law preventing schools from restricting access to toilets. Denying students this human right is often used as a form of punishment or disciplinary action.

Many schools do not allow students to use the toilets when they need them. This means that during break time students often have to chose between queuing to use the toilet or getting food and a break.

Not being able to access a toilet when needed can have lead to negative consequences such as bladder and bowel issues, UTIs, students wetting themselves and students not drinking enough during school hours as they are scared they might need to use the toilet.

It is also particularly dehumanising for young girls who just start their period and sometimes need to change pads very frequently. Young girls are forced to spend the school days in soiled clothes which not only is a health issue but leads to being bullied and ridiculed.

please stop that inhumane treatment of children and treat school children with the same dignity as adults.
