I have submitted a formal request for a meeting with the Township Planning Commission to present our proposal for backyard chicken ordinances. We are currently drafting a policy memo that outlines how other municipalities successfully manage these regulations.

Personally don't want chickens, but see no reason to restrict others from having 10 chickens if they want them.
I love the idea of allowing backyard chickens if done in a thoughtful way. For example, ensure that your chickens remain on your own property and possibly restrict roosters.
7 year resident of Hampton - would be great to see Hampton's policies aligned with neighboring communities. Res A and B already allow horses, so a responsible rollout of a small animal policy should hopefully be noncontroversial.
We had to get rid of our chickens due to nosy neighbors. The current rule is "If nobody calls about them, they don't care. Once they call, they have to respond to it"
If there are families in Hampton who would like to raise chickens as a healthy food source, as an educational tool for children or just for their own pleasure they should be allowed.. Townships around Hampton allow the residence the pleasure of raising chickens. If they so choose Hampton residence should also have this choice
Chickens if done responsibility have numerous benefits and responsibilities.

Chickens can be raised reasonable, cleanly, and responsibly. I worked with Pittsburgh zoning and City council on code that allowed people in the city to raise chickens. A simple 'by-right' code, similar to traditional pets is one of the easier ways of handling chicken code in a municipality. I would be happy to talk to anyone at Hampton on how to draft such code.
